In other words, for many people in the U.K. and elsewhere, the health club has become more of a gathering spot for socializing than it is a place to get in shape or exercise.
There remain, on the other hand, a large number of people who want to go to gyms and health clubs to work out, to get in shape, to improve their help. There are a number of reasons that drive a person to wanting to work out at home. The hustle and bustle associated with the social nature of many health clubs is one reason.
Another reason centers on a person's own sense of self. Many people who have elected to undertake a hearty program of exercise obviously feel that they are not in the best of shape. They want to improve themselves. And the are self conscious about being unduly exposed in workout gear while undertaking an exercise routine in a public gym or crowded health club. Indeed, this concern with “being seen” by others when not up to shape becomes a perfect rationalization for a person not to make the effort to head off to the gym of health club.
One of the other primary reasons that many people like the privacy of a home gym is the fact that they can work out whenever the fancy moves them. These people can fit a regular workout into their busy schedules even if it means trotting on a treadmill in pajamas.
